COTI 40th Celebration

Over 300 islanders attended our 40th Anniversary Party.  Thank you to all who attended the celebration of 40 years of Sanibel and COTI success. A special thank you to the team of COTI Board Members and to the many involved COTI Members that made this event so enjoyable, led by Barbara Joy Cooley and David Bath.

Sanibel City Council Election - Tuesday, March 3

Sanibel is having its first contested City Council election since 2009.   COTI urges all Sanibel residents to vote in this very important election. Please vote at your local polling place on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

You may vote for one or two City Council Members from this slate of candidates:

·      Chauncey Goss

·      Jim Jennings

·      Frances Slane

Sanibel City Council Candidate Forum - February 11, 7:00 p.m.

Please attend the Sanibel City Council Candidates' Forum as follows on Wednesday February 11, 7:00 p.m. at the Sanibel Community House.  Prof. Roger Green, Chair of the Dept. of Public Affairs at FGCU, will moderate the Forum in which all three City Council candidates will appear. There will be time for questions submitted from the audience. The event is free and open to the public.

COTI Annual Meeting – March 13, 9:00 a.m.

The COTI Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, March 13 starting at 9:00 a.m. with coffee, tea and pasties. All Sanibel residents, snowbirds and visitors are invited.  The “COTI Citizen of the Year” will be recognized and honored. Our keynote speaker will be Wayne Daltry talking about: “Problems of Growth and Development in Sanibel's Greater Watershed Area”.  Wayne, the former Director of Lee County Smart Growth Initiative, is a conservationist and a smart growth leader both in the Southwest Florida region and nationally.  Click here for more details: Insert link to article on

At this important business meeting, COTI Members will elect new and second term members to its Board of Directors. We will have time for questions and conduct other COTI business.  President Jim Beauchamp will present: “Sanibel & COTI: A Review and Look Forward”. More details will be sent to you later.
